 Dear Friend, 

         Pulmonary hypertension is a debilitating illness that can strike children and adults of all ages but most often afflicts women in their childbearing years. The disease affects the blood vessels between the heart and lungs causing a drop in oxygen levels and injuring the right side of the heart muscle.  Women stricken with the illness are unable to function normally. They have difficulty walking from one room the next, climbing stairs or otherwise conducting their daily affairs.

          The Israel Pulmonary Hypertension Association, a subsidiary of Europe Hypertension Association , was established in 2000 in order to assist and support people suffering from the disease.  The organization's objectives include:

• Providing financial assistance to patients for the purchase of medications and medical equipment,
• Advocacy leading to the inclusion of medications and new treatments in the government's basket of subsidized drugs and health services,
• Gathering relevant information concerning the disease and disseminating it to patients and their families,
• Operating a website offering information on a broad array of topics relating to the disease,
• Organizing support groups for patients and their families,
• Convening yearly conferences including lectures by physicians and other specialists,
• Providing a framework for social interaction and mutual support and sponsoring social events for patients and their families.

In order that we might continue meeting these goals, we ask that you consider financially contributing to the Israel Pulmonary Hypertension Association.  With the help of people like you we aim to continue our activities and create a supportive community that aims to save lives.

Please note that the Israel Pulmonary Hypertension Association is recognized under Section 46 of the Israel Income Tax Act enabling donors to benefit from a 35 % deduction as a result of their donation.
